During my internship with Leidos, I had the opportunity to develop the NACE Career Readiness Competencies of Technology, Teamwork, and Leadership.

Technology

Workday Recruiting

Workday Recruiting is a recruitment software that streamlines the hiring process. Throughout my internship, I learned how to navigate this platform to manage candidate applications, create a job requisition, and track recruitment metrics. By utilizing Workday, I gained insights into applicant tracking systems, which helped me to understand the importance of data in making strong hiring decisions.

Radancy

Radancy is a digital recruitment platform where I served as a live chat agent, screening potential candidates. This task required me to develop strong communication skills and a keen understanding of the recruitment process, specifically when it comes to screening applicants in real-time. I learned how to use this technology to facilitate interactions and provide immediate responses to inquiries regarding a postion a candidate was interested in, as well as screen their resumes in a timely manner.

Excel & Pivot Tables

During my internship, I also developed my skills in using both Microsoft Excel and Pivot Tables. By leveraging these tools for our team's weekly recruitement data report, I was able to analyze and identifying the patterns that inform our hiring strategies. This experience taught me how to manipulate and visualize data as well, which is crucial for making data-driven decisions within my organization.

Canva Pro

To create marketing and engagement posts for our Talent Acquisition Team's Social Connections club, I utilized Canva Pro. This graphic design platform allowed me to express updates, meeting invites, and engagement posts creativity while developing visually appealing content. I also had the opporutinity to create digital e-cards to send to the members of our TA team during a challenging season. A few examples are listed below.

Teamwork

I had the opportunity to build strong collaborative relationships as a member of the Leidos Talent Acquisition team. I regularly contributed during team meetings and found that listening actively to others’ ideas and offering support wherever I could really helped me grow and learn as a fellow teammate. One specific way in which I developed my teamwork skills was by working closely with two recruiters on our team, Matt and Anthony, to create a Microsoft Teams channel for the 2025 Leidos summer interns. We included important updates, event info, helpful resources, and more. The project involved a lot of coordination, idea-sharing, and we meshed very well together as a team to produce quality content.

I was also part of the Social Connections Club, which brought together interns and employees from our TA department to bond over shared interests. This club gave me the chance to connect and grow with my coworkers over topics such as travel, books, wellness, movies, and TV. These experiences taught me how to be freliable, and solution-oriented in a team setting, and I am confident they’ll help me succeed in future roles. I plan to continue strengthening this skill by seeking out a collaborative environment in my future workplace, as well as always staying open to learning from and with my fellow coworkers.

Leadership

My internship at Leidos gave me a unique chance to step into a leadership role, especially through my involvement with the Social Connections Team. I took the initiative to create and send weekly newsletters to the TA Team that promoted the club and our current event schedule, something that hadn’t been done before. It became my own independent project, and I had full creative control over the content and format. These newsletters helped drive engagement and build a stronger sense of community among the interns and employees alike.

Additionally, I became the lead for the Travel Club, where I designed fun and interactive posts to encourage employees to share their travel plans, tips, and experiences. Both of these roles allowed me to practice innovative thinking, take ownership of projects, and motivate others through consistent communication and enthusiasm. Moving forward, I plan to continue developing my leadership skills by taking initiative, staying open to feedback, and looking for ways to bring people together through creative ideas and shared goals.
